An Update...

Saturday, May 30, 2009
Our dear phriend Cindy is still hanging in there. She told me today that she's "getting worn out." She has been home for 9 days with Hospice care! She is such an incredible fighter. I can tell you that she's starting to sleep more but is still not in any real pain. Thank God for that!

Just so you know....

My phriend Cindy is still "hanging in there." She is such a tough woman. I'm very, very spent and have just not been up to blogging. I've enjoyed getting to spend so much extra time with her. Please keep Cindy and her husband in your prayers.
I'll get back to blogging soon.
Sorry about being so absent.
Thanks for checking in.
Thanks for reading.

Happy 3 Days After Mother's Day!

Tuesday, May 12, 2009
I hope all of you mother's out there had a nice holiday on Sunday. I certainly did. I slept in, had breakfast with Rod and Nick who gave me this fabulous card:

Then I went home, took a long nap and then I got to talk to Chris for a while! It's always a good day when I get to talk to and/or see both of my boys!

Sunday evening was spent at some friends' house, celebrating their daughter's graduation from nursing college! It was a day filled with eating, socializing and sleeping! You don't get a much better Mother's Day than that!!

On the health front, the facial rash continues. I went to a dermatologist yesterday. She is not sure what is going on. She said it could be one of many things or it could be all of the many things. Great. she gave me some really serious steroid cream that I'm suppose to use for a week and then slowly back off. She's going out of town. So, as soon as she returns I'll go back to see her. She said that I might have to have a biopsy done to really figure out what is going on. In the meantime, hopefully the steroid cream will reduce things enough that I can cover most of the rash with makeup and not look like such a rodeo clown.

Well, I guess that's it for now.

This and that and that and this....

*************************************
Just a point of clarification: I started this posting last night, (Saturday evening) but was unable to finish it and post it because the internet was acting up. So, please try to pretend that you read this yesterday (Saturday). Thank you.

"The Management"
*************************************

First item of the evening is a piece of good news! Thanks to some great suggestions from friends, phriends and my brilliant son Chris, I slept like a baby last night! At least I slept like a baby who is a good sleeper and sleeps all night only waking up once or twice and is able to go right back to sleep. Hopefully this was just the first of many restful evenings!

Second item of the evening is a prayer request. My good phriend Cindy C. is in the hospital. She's having a little trouble with her pacemaker and with water retention. There are few things as annoying and frustrating as having to stay in the hospital. I went to visit her today and she's being an incredible trooper. Anyway, I know prayers for an "early release" from the "warden" would be greatly appreciated.

Third item of the evening is a MOVIE REVIEW!! Last night Rod and I saw.....
X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE!!

This was a fabulous movie! Plus, Hugh Jackman was....IN HIS BIRTHDAY SUIT!! Now, granted, it was a quick shot of his "BIRTHDAY SUIT" and it was taken from a long ways away and he was jumping down a waterfall, but...HUGH JACKMAN WAS WEARING HIS BIRTHDAY SUIT!! EXCELLENT movie! Eight puppy paws WAAAAAY UP!

Fourth and final item of the night is a little doggie story. The weather was absolutely beautiful today! I drug my oxygen tubing outside and spent some time enjoying the weather and laughing at my goofy dogs.
Those of you who are dog owners have most likely witnessed your dogs discover a unique (aka gross) looking and/or smelling item. Once it is discovered, they have this uncontrollable desire to roll in/on it. Someone told me once that they heard that dogs do that to cover their own scent so they can sneak up on their prey. Personally, I just think they're goofballs!
Well, Asa and Haver discovered "something special" in the yard yesterday. Asa discovered it first, put his head down and rolled back in forth on it. Haver, on the other hand had a little trouble "rolling" on it. Because he's a little bit on the "chunky" side, every time he tried to roll on it, he just kept flopping onto his side.

I've tried to get a good shot of the difference in Asa and Haver's bodies. When I looked at this picture of Haver I thought to myself, "He doesn't look so bad!" What a cutie!

Then I looked at this picture that I took of Asa standing next to Haver.

Do you notice the difference in their chests? Poor Haver! I think I need to get in touch with someone from the Seinfeld Show and get my poor porky pooch one of those "bros!"

Sleepless and Oxygenless in Omaha...

Wednesday, May 6, 2009
I keep quoting Cindy C., so I'm just going to go ahead and put her picture on here so you can see her face and imagine her voice as she says,

"If it's not one thing, it's a dozen others!"

My knee is almost all better, but sleeping still seems to be a bit of a problem. I've been getting to sleep quicker, but I seem to be waking up a bit more frequently, and when I do, I discover that I've taken off my oxygen cannula! After the first couple of times I figured I just took it off when I woke up to use the restroom. But, I began to notice that I felt a little "funky" when I woke up and didn't have my oxygen on. So, I grabbed my pulse-ox, which is this little finger thingy that tells you what your oxygen concentrations and pulse are.

I was surprised to see that my oxygen levels were in the low 80's. With my oxygen on, I usually stay in the mid to high 90's which is where they are suppose to be.

Well, it's been going on for 3 nights now. Last night I actually woke up with my oxygen off and had my SAT's in the high 60's and low 70's. I've been so stinking tired the last few days, and I'm sure it's because of my late night cannula disco-dancing. Rod's been fighting a head cold and has been in a Nyquil coma so he hasn't noticed me taking off the tubing. I think I'm going to tape the damn thing to my head tonight and see if that helps!

Wish me luck!

Oh, on a GOOD note, at this moment, Asa and Haver are laying on the floor, just a couple of feet away from each other chewing on their own toys. There's no growling, no hair rising, just good old happy-go-lucky chewing, panting and tail wagging, and that's just Rod!!

Thanks for checking in.

Sleepless in Omaha....

Sunday, May 3, 2009
Once again I need to apologize for being a "Bad Blogger!" As my phriend Cindy C. says, "If it's not one thing, it's a dozen others. I've had troubles with insomnia since I was diagnosed with PH. The doctor's think it's probably due to me not being able to "quiet my mind." (Yes, I know that I just gave myself a HUGE opening for someone to send me a zinger...zing away...)So, for about 5 years now I've been taking some kind of "sleep aid."
Fast forward...unknown knee injury requiring extra steroids due to Addison's disease causes sleeping problems...
Fast forward...knee problem is improving, sleeping issues are worsening....

NEWS REPORT!!!

"Mrs. Maniac Markin" is a bit sleep deprived resulting in a crankier than normal demeaner... Husband and Dogs have been seen hiding in the bushes! Husband was found attempting to sneak Asa and Haver's Prozac into Mrs. Maniac Markin's Diet Pepsi..."

"Asa and Haver are quoted as saying, 'She can have our Prozak, but she CAN'T have our horse poop!!"
